India’s junior women’s hockey team defeated Argentina 2-0 in a shootout after a 1-1 draw during regulation time in their third match at the Four Nations Tournament. Kanika scored India’s only goal in the 44th minute, while Lalrinpuii and Lalthantluangi sealed the win in the shootout.

Argentina led early with a goal from Milagros Del Valle in the 10th minute. India equalised in the third quarter, with Kanika finding the net. The game remained tied and was decided by penalties. Indian captain and goalkeeper Nidhi was outstanding, stopping four straight shots.

Earlier, India won their opening match on May 25 against Chile 2-1. Chile’s Javeria Saenz opened the scoring, but India came back strong. Sukhveer Kaur equalised in the 39th minute, and Kanika Siwach scored the winner just two minutes before full time.

On May 26, India edged Uruguay 3-2 in a close contest. Kanika Siwach again starred, scoring twice in the final quarter—first from a penalty corner and then a field goal.

India has now won all three matches in the tournament, showing strong form with clutch performances and standout contributions from Kanika and goalkeeper Nidhi.
