India assured of 43 medals at Asian Boxing event

India secures 25 medals in U-15, 18 in U-17

India has confirmed 43 medals at the first Asian U-15 and U-17 Boxing Championships, taking place under the newly recognised Asian Boxing body of World Boxing. Four more Indian boxers won their quarterfinal matches on Day 7, making sure the country will return with a huge medal haul.

India now has 25 assured medals in the U-15 group and 18 in the U-17 group, since all semifinalists will get at least bronze medals.

Aman Siwach (63kg) and Devansh (80kg) led the U-17 boys’ wins by Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) over boxers from the Philippines and Jordan. In the girls’ matches, Simranjeet Kaur (60kg) defeated Jordan’s Aya Alhasanat with a 5-0 win, while Himanshi (70kg) ended her fight quickly with an RSC in round one against Palestine’s Farah Abou Layla.

Earlier, Nelson Khwairakpam (55kg), Abhijeet (61kg), and Lakshay Phogat (64kg) also won their fights easily in the U-15 group. In the same group, Harsil (37kg), Sanchit Jayani (49kg), and Sanskar Vinod Atram (35kg) showed strong performances.

Among the girls, Princi (52kg), Samruddhi Satish Shinde (55kg), and Milky Meinam (43kg) won their fights with big margins.

Despite some losses, India’s boxers have shown great spirit and talent at this important tournament, creating hope for a strong finish in the coming days.
