India A squad announced for Europe tour

Hockey India has announced the India A Men’s Hockey Team squad for its upcoming European tour, scheduled from July 8 to 20, featuring eight matches against top-tier European sides. The tour aims to offer a critical platform for emerging talents and seasoned players to gain valuable international experience.

The 20-member squad will play two matches each against Ireland, France, and the Netherlands, and one each against England and Belgium. The tour is part of Hockey India’s long-term strategy to nurture future national team players by exposing them to the tempo and tactical depth of European hockey.

Sanjay has been named captain, while Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh will serve as vice-captain. The squad includes a mix of proven performers and promising newcomers.

Goalkeepers: Pawan and Mohit Honnenahalli Shashikumar

Defenders: Pratap Lakra, Varun Kumar, Amandeep Lakra, Parmod, and Sanjay

Midfielders: Poovanna Chandura Boby, Mohammed Raheel Mouseen, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Vishnukant Singh, Pardeep Singh, and Rajinder Singh

Forwards: Angadbir Singh, Boby Singh Dhami, Maninder Singh, Venkatesh Kenche, Aditya Arjun Lalge, Selvam Karthi, and Uttam Singh

Standbys: Ankit Malik (GK), Sunil Jojo (Defender), and Sudeep Chirmako (Forward)

The team will be coached by Shivendra Singh, who also serves as the assistant coach for the senior national team. He emphasized that the tour will help players understand the structure and pace of international hockey. India A will kick off their campaign against Ireland on July 8.
