Hockey India Masters Cup begins June 18

Hockey India has announced the first-ever Hockey India Masters Cup 2025. This special tournament will take place in Chennai from June 18 to June 27. It will be hosted by the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu.
The event is made for veteran hockey players who still love the sport. It includes both men's and women's matches. This is a new step in Indian hockey to give former players a chance to play again. The names of the teams will be shared soon.
Players must meet age rules to take part. Men must be at least 40 years old, and women must be 35 or older. All players must sign up through their State Member Units.
The format will be league-cum-knockout. Pools will be decided based on the number of teams.
Former Indian women’s hockey captain Asunta Lakra shared her happiness. She said joining the first Masters Cup means a lot to her. Hockey has helped shape her life, and playing again with old teammates is emotional.
She added that this tournament is not just about winning. It celebrates love for the game and the legacy left behind. She praised Hockey India for making a platform where former players can play again and inspire younger ones.
Asunta said wearing her boots again brings joy. It reminds her of what hockey gave to her and others. The Masters Cup is a proud moment for all veteran hockey lovers.
