Hayley Matthews wins fourth ICC monthly award
Dubai
West Indies cricket star Hayley Matthews has been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June 2025. She beat South Africa’s Tazmin Brits and her teammate Afy Fletcher to earn the honor.
This is Matthews’ fourth time winning the award, tying her with Australia’s Ash Gardner for the most monthly wins. She previously won in November 2021, October 2023, and April 2024.
The West Indies captain was rewarded for her strong performance in the T20I series against South Africa, where she helped her team win 2-1. Matthews scored 147 runs at a strike rate of 120.49 and took two wickets with her off-spin bowling. Her best knocks were unbeaten scores of 63 and 65, helping her team recover from an early loss.
Though she struggled in the ODI series due to a shoulder injury, she still made solid contributions with scores of 40 and 56, and took four wickets.
Matthews said she’s happy with the award but is focused on future goals with her team.
