The Indian government is set to launch a special mobile app aimed at spotting young sports talent across the country. Inspired by viral videos of children showing raw skill in sports like cricket, athletics, and archery, this app will help discover and nurture hidden talent in schools and villages.

The app will allow citizens to upload videos of children with sporting potential. This effort is part of a wider mission to involve the public in finding the next generation of sports stars from every corner of India.

A ministry official said the app would ensure fairness and equal access in the selection process. This means talented children won’t miss out just because they lack money or connections.

The uploaded videos will be reviewed by zonal selection committees under the Khelo India framework. These committees will include expert coaches, former athletes, and sports scientists. Promising children will be admitted into Khelo India Centres for proper training, nutrition, and mentorship.

The government hopes this platform will build a strong pool of athletes for future international events, including the 2036 Olympics. It aims to ensure that talent is identified early and supported with structured development.

This new step fits into Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s larger vision of turning India into a global sports powerhouse. The Khelo India scheme, launched in 2018, already includes a talent identification and development programme, which this app will now boost further.

With this new initiative, the government is blending technology and sports development to promote a stronger sports culture across the country.
