In a rain-shortened Major League Cricket game, Donovan Ferreira smashed 37 runs from just 9 balls, helping Texas Super Kings (TSK) score 87 for 2 in 5 overs. His quick hitting and Shubham Ranjane’s steady 39 not out gave Texas a strong total that Washington Freedom couldn’t chase.

The game began with TSK batting first after rain interrupted play. Regular captain Faf du Plessis was rested, so Marcus Stoinis led the team. But he got out early, and Daryl Mitchell struggled on the wet field. TSK then sent in Ferreira, who hit 28 runs in one over from Mitchell Owen.

Freedom’s chase got off to a bad start. Nandre Burger took two wickets in his first over, removing Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Maxwell. Though Ravindra hit a six, the team quickly lost key players. Owen and others couldn’t handle the spin from Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmad.

Texas won by 43 runs and moved to second place. Both teams will play again on July 4 (today), hoping for better weather.
