Novak Djokovic began his Wimbledon 2025 journey with a four-set victory over France’s Alexandre Muller on late Tuesday. The seven-time champion won 6-1, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2 in a match lasting 3 hours and 19 minutes. He will now face Dan Evans in the second round.

After the match, Djokovic revealed he struggled with a stomach issue. "I went from feeling my best for a set and a half to feeling my worst for 45 minutes," he shared. Djokovic took medicine from the tournament doctor and was able to recover and finish strong. He confirmed that retiring from the match was never an option and he hopes to regain full energy for upcoming rounds.

Meanwhile, world number one Jannik Sinner had an easy start to his Wimbledon run. He beat fellow Italian Luca Nardi 6-4, 6-3, 6-0 in just one hour and 48 minutes. Sinner did not face any break points and converted five of the 13 chances he created. He will meet Aleksandar Vukic in the second round.

In a big surprise, Arthur Rinderknech upset third seed Alexander Zverev in a five-set thriller. Rinderknech won 7-6(3), 6-7(8), 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4 after four hours and 44 minutes. Zverev came to Wimbledon in good form, having reached the Stuttgart final and Halle semifinals, but fell short in this tight battle.

Wimbledon 2025 has already started with thrilling matches and unexpected results, setting the stage for more exciting tennis in the coming days.
