Diamond Harbour Football Club (DHFC) has postponed its victory march, originally planned for April 27, to honor victims of a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The club's Chief Patron, Abhishek Banerjee, announced the decision, saying it was a mark of respect for those affected.

The march was meant to celebrate DHFC’s I-League 2 title win and promotion to the I-League. The club earned the trophy with a 1-0 victory against Chanmari FC, thanks to an 85th-minute goal by Rabi Mandi. The win secured their unbeaten streak of 15 matches this season, including 11 wins and 4 draws.

Earlier in the season, DHFC also won the I-League 3 title to qualify for I-League 2. With this latest success, they now join the ranks of West Bengal’s most respected football clubs. They will play in the I-League alongside historic teams like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan Sporting, who have since moved up to the Indian Super League.

In a statement, DHFC said, “We were set to celebrate a historic triumph... However, in light of the tragic Pahalgam attack, our Chief Patron has decided to postpone the event indefinitely as a mark of respect. We stand in solidarity with the victims and their families.”

The club’s thoughtful gesture reflects its sensitivity during a difficult time for the nation. Though the celebration is delayed, the team’s achievements this season remain a proud moment for West Bengal football fans.
