The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Thursday has penalized Churchill Brothers FC with a 0-3 forfeit for fielding an ineligible player during their I-League match against Aizawl FC on February 17.

Originally ending in a 1-1 draw at Mizoram’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, the match was later reviewed by AIFF’s Disciplinary Committee. The federation found Churchill Brothers in violation of Articles 6.5.6 and 6.6.6 of the I-League 2024-25 Regulations. As a result, the match was forfeited under Articles 57 and 26 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code.

Despite the punishment, Churchill Brothers remain second in the I-League standings with 28 points from 16 games, trailing leaders Inter Kashi by three points.

Earlier this week, Namdhari FC also faced a similar penalty for an ineligible player in their match against Inter Kashi on January 13.
