Chennaiyin FC confirmed the departure of Scottish midfielder Connor Shields on Friday after one season with the club. Shields joined Chennaiyin in 2023 and quickly became a key part of Owen Coyle’s side. In his debut campaign, he made 21 appearances across midfield and attack, contributing five goals and showcasing his versatility.

The 2023-24 season saw Shields play an influential role as Chennaiyin reached the playoffs. Even though the club slipped to 11th the following year, Shields’ contributions kept their attack sharp. Known for his creativity and work rate, Shields topped the league with 76 chances created and eight assists in the 2024-25 season.
