In a thrilling display of power-hitting, Chandan delivered a match-winning unbeaten 70 off just 26 balls to guide Safran Cricket Club to a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over Bhaarat Cricket Club in the 6-T Country Summer Slam Series league match at the Country Cricket Stadium, Gharota.
Chasing a target of 112, Safran CC faced an early hiccup with the loss of a wicket, but Chandan’s aggressive approach quickly turned the tide. His whirlwind innings featured 11 boundaries and 3 towering sixes, scoring at a remarkable strike rate of 269.23. His knock left the opposition bowlers helpless and thrilled the crowd with clean hitting. Chandan was well-supported by Sukhiee, who scored a composed 35 off 21 deliveries, ensuring that the chase was completed with ease and style.
Earlier, Bhaarat Cricket Club’s batting lineup faltered under disciplined bowling from Safran CC and was bundled out for 111 in 19.5 overs. Pradeep Singh led the bowling attack with a superb spell, picking up 3 crucial wickets. He was well backed by Arun Zalpuri and Akash Thakur, who took 2 wickets each, effectively dismantling Bhaarat CC’s middle and lower order.
Despite a few starts, none of the Bhaarat CC batters could convert into a significant score, resulting in a below-par total. For his explosive, unbeaten knock that turned the game on its head, Chandan was adjudged Man of the Match.
