Bhupinder Singh shines bright for Hyderabad Heroes
Mumbai
Bhupinder Singh has made a strong entry into the Rugby Premier League (RPL) as a replacement player for Hyderabad Heroes. He joined the team after Sumit Roy was injured and quickly made an impact by scoring his first try, helping his team beat Chennai Bulls 17-0. This win confirmed Hyderabad’s spot in the playoffs, their seventh victory in eight games.
Bhupinder expressed his joy after the match. “World champions are playing against me, and I’m happy to perform well. I’ll always give my best for the team and for India,” he said.
Originally from the army sports quota, Bhupinder was introduced to rugby in 2021 due to his speed. He has played for the Army India team and in leagues in Qatar and Sri Lanka. Though not picked in the initial draft, he stayed motivated and trained hard, believing his time would come.
He now feels proud to play alongside world-class athletes. “Playing with Olympic-level players is improving our skills,” he said. Bhupinder hopes to continue proving himself on this big stage and inspire others.
