Bharat Arun to train Sri Lankan cricketers
New Delhi
India’s former bowling coach Bharat Arun will lead a special 14-day training programme in Sri Lanka starting June 2. This training will focus on improving the fast bowling skills of both men’s and women’s players. Arun recently worked with Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025 and will now share his expertise with Sri Lanka’s cricketers.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced that Arun will train players at the High-Performance Centre. He will begin with the Under-19 men’s national team and then work with the senior men’s and women’s teams, women’s ‘A’ team, and various coaches.
The programme will include strategy sessions for both red-ball and white-ball formats. Arun will also conduct technical and skill training for fast bowlers, video analysis sessions, and match practice to build game awareness. He aims to help raise Sri Lanka’s performance levels before the men's team faces Bangladesh and the women's team prepares for the Women’s ODI World Cup in India.
SLC has recently brought in top Indian coaches to run short camps. In 2024, Rajasthan Royals' high-performance head Zubin Bharucha was invited to boost batting standards. Earlier this year, former India fielding coach R Sridhar held a 10-day training session focused on improving fielding for emerging players and top-level teams.
Arun’s camp is expected to be a major boost, helping Sri Lanka’s bowlers sharpen their skills and strategies ahead of key international matches. The sessions will also help coaches improve their methods and support long-term player development.
