Bhagyashree Jadhav, a seasoned shot putter and javelin thrower, is determined to make her third attempt at winning a Paralympic medal at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. After narrowly missing out on medals at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympics, the 37-year-old athlete from Maharashtra is focused on achieving her goal in LA.

Bhagyashree, who was India's flagbearer at the Paris Paralympics alongside Sumit Antil, recently showcased her excellent form by winning two gold medals at the second Khelo India Para Games 2025. Competing in the F 33-34 category, she dominated both the shot put and javelin throw events at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This victory comes after an impressive year, during which she secured six gold medals across three events.

"Competing at this iconic venue feels special. The history of Indian athletics here inspires me to give my best," Bhagyashree said. Her recent performances included a shot-put throw of 7.30 meters, comfortably winning the event, and a dominant javelin throw of 13.57 meters.

Bhagyashree’s journey into para sports began in 2017, following a tragic accident in 2006 that left her in a coma and on a ventilator for an extended period. Supported by her family, she overcame these challenges to pursue para sports, making a name for herself with her remarkable achievements.

“My ultimate goal is the Paralympics. Though it’s a few years away, I’m determined to bring a medal home,” she said, reflecting on her previous near-misses. With continued support from her family and her relentless dedication, Bhagyashree is confident that LA 2028 will be her moment.
