India’s Ayush Shetty won his first-ever BWF World Tour title at the US Open 2025, beating Canada’s Brian Yang in the men’s singles final. Ayush played brilliantly to win 21-18, 21-13 in just 47 minutes at the Mid-America Center. This victory marked a big step forward for the young star, showing he is ready to compete among the world’s best.

Ayush started strong in the tournament, defeating Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen and India’s Tharun Mannepalli in early rounds. In the semifinals, he achieved his biggest win by beating world number six Chou Tien Chen, avenging an earlier loss. Ayush’s outstanding performance has made him a new name to watch in badminton.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma also impressed everyone by reaching the women’s singles final. She became the youngest Indian to reach a BWF World Tour final. Though she lost to China’s veteran Biwan Zhang 11-21, 21-16, 10-21, Tanvi showed great fighting spirit throughout the match.

Tanvi defeated top players like Nguyễn Thùy Linh of Vietnam and Thailand’s Pitchamon Opatniputh on her way to the final. Even though she didn’t win the title, she gained huge praise and inspired many young players in India.

Tanvi already has two BWF International Challenge titles and was a runner-up at the Odisha Masters last year.

These achievements by Ayush and Tanvi mark an exciting time for Indian badminton. Their strong performances show the growing talent in the country and promise a bright future ahead for Indian players on the world stage.
