West Indies captain Shai Hope pulled no punches after his team suffered a crushing 0-5 whitewash in the T20I series against Australia, rounding off a disastrous tour that exposed glaring shortcomings in the Caribbean side’s game. The final T20I at Warner Park, St. Kitts, saw the Windies fall short while chasing 171, capping off a campaign that also included a 0-3 Test series defeat and a record-low innings total of just 27 in the final red-ball clash.

Hope admitted the batting unit had failed to step up against a clinical Australian attack. Don’t think we put up a good batting display, he said during the post-match presentation. We were always one step behind, though the bowlers deserve some credit. We just couldn’t find a way to compete.

Australia’s middle order once again proved decisive, with Cameron Green, Mitchell Owen, and Tim David anchoring the chase. Green, whose consistency across the series was remarkable, claimed the Player of the Series award.

Despite possessing an array of explosive T20 specialists, the Windies never discovered rhythm or confidence with either bat or ball. Hope acknowledged that key decisions, including the toss, compounded their struggles. In the Caribbean, chasing is often better due to dew and wind, but some factors were out of my control, he said.

For Australia, the series underscored their dominance and highlighted the gulf between the two teams, leaving the Windies with urgent questions ahead of future international assignments.
