Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has called for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to boycott all cricket events in India, including ICC tournaments. He made these remarks in response to India's refusal to play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, which is scheduled for January-March next year. Afridi emphasized the need for Pakistan cricket to be self-reliant and take principled decisions. His comments followed India’s proposal for a 'hybrid model' for the Champions Trophy, where India would play its matches at a neutral venue like Dubai. Though the model is yet to be officially confirmed, Afridi believes that Pakistan's stance on the matter is justified. Afridi also criticized the PCB's inconsistent policies, particularly highlighting the case of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s brief T20 captaincy. He noted that the board's decision to remove Shaheen as captain after just one series had a negative impact on him. Additionally, Afridi expressed concern over the lack of systems to nurture young talent in Pakistan cricket, despite the country’s abundant talent pool. He also voiced his support for emerging player Saim Ayub, hoping for his success across formats.
