Karnataka woman’s boyfriend held for her murder

Police in Karnataka have arrested a 28-year-old man for the murder of his girlfriend, ending a six-month-long mystery about her disappearance. Satish Hiremath, a petrol station worker from Narayanapura village, was taken into custody for killing 26-year-old Madhushree Angadi and burying her body near a stream.
Madhushree had been in a six-year relationship with Satish, which her family opposed. In December 2024, she left her relatives’ home in Gadag town and vanished. Her family filed a missing person complaint on January 12, 2025.
Investigations revealed that Satish took Madhushree to a farmhouse on the night she disappeared. There, during a heated argument when she asked him to marry her, Satish allegedly strangled her with a veil and buried her body near a stream. He continued his daily routine after the crime and claimed he had last seen her near Gadag town.
Police used phone tracking to trace Madhushree’s last location, which contradicted Satish’s claims. Under pressure, Satish confessed and led the police to the burial spot, where skeletal remains were found. Her skull is still missing, and forensic tests are underway to confirm her identity and the cause of death.
“We initially thought she had eloped, but the lack of digital activity raised doubts,” said Gadag SP B S Namegouda. “Satish believed no one would find the body. Our persistent investigation proved otherwise.”
Police plan to seek Satish’s custody for further questioning and evidence collection.
