YSRCP MLC Zakia Khanam joins BJP in Andhra

On Wednesday, Zakia Khanam, the YSRCP MLC and Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson, resigned from both her post and party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). According to BJP sources, she was formally welcomed at the state BJP office by state party president and Rajahmundry MP D Purandeswari.
Purandeswari emphasized that Khanam’s decision to join the BJP marks an important shift and strengthens the party’s commitment to inclusive leadership. Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Y Sathya Kumar Yadav, along with other BJP leaders, also expressed their support for Khanam’s move.
Purandeswari reiterated the BJP's motto Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Together with all, development for all), stressing the party's focus on welfare for all communities, especially marginalized groups. She also highlighted the growing trust among minorities in the BJP, attributing it to Prime Minister Modi’s strong leadership and bold policies.
Khanam's shift is seen as a boost to BJP’s efforts to enhance its presence in Andhra Pradesh with a focus on development and inclusive governance.
