Youth detained for pro-Pakistan remarks on social media
Meerut
A youth named Zaid has been arrested in Meerut for allegedly posting pro-Pakistan content on social media, police reported on Thursday. Zaid, who works at a salon in the Civil Lines area, faces charges under the Indian Penal Code, including section 152 for actions endangering the country’s sovereignty.
The issue came to light when Vinod Jatav, General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's Meerut chapter, flagged objectionable posts on Zaid's Instagram account, which included slogans like Pakistan Zindabad and Pakistan is right. Jatav, along with local residents, filed a formal complaint, leading to Zaid's arrest.
Police have warned against spreading provocative or misleading content, especially with tensions rising after the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s Operation Sindoor in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Authorities are closely monitoring social media activity and urged citizens to act responsibly online to prevent communal unrest.
