The police arrested a woman after she threatened to set herself and a house on fire in Awadhpuri Colony on Thursday, an official said. A video showing her sitting on a gas stove holding a matchstick went viral on social media. The woman broke into the house using a hammer and threatened to burn the house and herself. Police arrived quickly and took her to the station, where she caused further disturbance.

The woman had earlier filed a rape complaint against a 33-year-old man who refused to marry her after their relationship. The man was arrested but recently granted bail. He moved to Uttar Pradesh with his family, while his younger brother stayed in Awadhpuri. The woman was pressuring the brother to bring the accused to Bhopal.

She was charged under Section 326 (g) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for mischief involving fire, which can lead to 10 years or life imprisonment. She was also charged with obstructing the police and has been sent to judicial custody.
