Two soldiers martyred in IED blast

Two soldiers, including an officer, lost their lives on Tuesday due to an IED blast in the Laleali area of the Akhnoor sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu.

The Army's White Knight Corps shared on social media that the explosion occurred during a routine fence patrol. "Suspected IED blast reported in Laleali, Akhnoor Sector, resulting in two fatalities. Troops are dominating the area, and search operations are underway," the post read, paying tribute to the fallen soldiers.

The injured soldiers were rushed for treatment but succumbed to their injuries. This incident follows the elimination of five militants during an infiltration attempt on February 5 in Poonch. The militants reportedly died in a landmine explosion while crossing the LoC.

The army maintains landmines in certain areas near the LoC to prevent infiltration, which are designated as no man's land. Recent forest fires have also triggered explosions in these regions. The tragic loss of lives comes amid heightened security along the LoC to counter possible infiltration attempts.
