Traffic halted after bridge collapse on NH 305 in Kullu
Shimla
Traffic on National Highway 305 in Himachal Pradesh was disrupted on Saturday after a bridge connecting Mandi and Kullu districts collapsed. The bridge, built in the 1980s, suddenly gave way in the early hours, causing a truck to fall into the river. The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Local authorities, including the district administration and police, quickly responded to the scene. Kullu’s Deputy Commissioner, Torul S Ravneesh, confirmed that machinery was deployed to assess and restore the situation. Efforts are underway to identify alternative routes, and light vehicle movement is expected to resume soon. By Saturday morning, a temporary pathway was set up, with traffic diverted via Pandoh. Additionally, the installation of a bailey bridge will begin shortly to ensure a permanent solution.
