Thakur thanks Centre, slams Congress for bias

BJP MP from Hamirpur and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur has thanked the Central Government for releasing ₹2,006.40 crore to support disaster recovery efforts in Himachal Pradesh. Thakur praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for standing firmly with the people of the state during and after the natural calamities.

Thakur said the Centre has consistently helped Himachal, from approving thousands of houses during the crisis to allocating over ₹2,000 crore in financial aid. This shows Modi ji’s commitment to Himachal, he said.

However, Thakur sharply criticised the Congress-led state government for not acknowledging the Centre’s support. They want everything from the Centre but won’t even say thank you, he remarked. Citing past examples, he said 93,000 houses were sanctioned under the PM Awas Yojana, yet the state government questioned the allocation instead of showing gratitude.

Thakur accused the Congress government of showing political bias in implementing central schemes. He claimed there’s a deliberate attempt to exclude MPs from inauguration events, particularly for rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), even when the approvals are based on official recommendations.

He said such behaviour sets a bad example for governance. You seek help from the Centre but refuse to give credit—this is not the right approach, he added. Thakur’s comments follow the Centre’s recent approval of a major relief package for Himachal, even as the state continues to seek more funds, claiming its total request exceeds ₹9,000 crore.
