Telangana tunnel collapse: Rescue efforts continue for 15th day
Nagarkurnool
Rescue efforts continue in Telangana’s Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse in Nagarkurnool, where eight workers have been trapped since February 22.
Cadaver dogs from Kerala police identified two possible locations, prompting rescue teams to clear silt in those areas. These Belgian Malinois dogs can detect human presence up to 15 feet deep.
State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, overseeing the operation, is expected to visit the site and hold discussions with officials.
Rescue teams, including experts from the NDRF, Indian Army, and Navy, are working under tough conditions, facing water seepage and heavy slush. Despite these challenges, efforts continue to locate and safely extract the trapped engineers and laborers.
The tunnel partially collapsed during maintenance work, trapping the workers inside. Authorities are using advanced equipment and personnel to speed up the process and ensure a safe outcome.
