Shivraj Singh Chouhan to attend 15th BRICS Agriculture meeting in Brazil

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture, is leading the Indian delegation to the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers' Meeting (AMM) on April 17 in Brasilia, Brazil. The theme for this meeting is Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Agriculture through Cooperation, Innovation, and Equitable Trade among BRICS Countries.
Ministers and officials from BRICS nations, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran, are expected to attend.
Chouhan will engage in bilateral discussions with Brazilian counterparts, such as Carlos Henrique Baqueta Favaro, Minister of Agriculture, and Luiz Paulo Teixeira, Minister of Agrarian Development. These meetings will focus on enhancing collaboration in agriculture, agri-tech, rural development, and food security.
The minister will also meet Brazilian agribusiness leaders and representatives of the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries to explore investment opportunities in the agricultural sector.
In addition, Chouhan will take part in a tree plantation drive at the Indian Embassy in Brasilia as part of the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, promoting environmental awareness and honoring motherhood.
During his visit, he will interact with the Indian diaspora in Sao Paulo, recognizing their contributions to strengthening bilateral ties.
This visit emphasizes India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with BRICS nations and advancing agricultural innovation and sustainability.
