Shiv Sena urges President's rule in West Bengal over violence
Thane
The Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal over the violent protests against the amended Waqf law, demanding the imposition of President's rule in the state. The party alleged that Hindus in West Bengal were living in fear, claiming that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) did nothing to stop the violence. Protests in Murshidabad district last week escalated into clashes, leaving at least three people dead and several others injured.
Shiv Sena spokesperson and Thane MP Naresh Mhaske condemned the violence, saying that the TMC had remained a mere spectator, allowing the violence to occur under the watch of both the state government and local police. He called for the dismissal of the Mamata Banerjee-led government, suggesting that President's rule should be imposed in West Bengal. Mhaske accused the TMC of provoking Hindu sentiments, claiming that Hindus were being subjected to atrocities, with significant loss of life and property, especially among Hindus.
Mhaske further criticized the silence of leaders from the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, including M.K. Stalin and Rahul Gandhi, questioning why they had not spoken out against the violence, suggesting they were intimidated by Mamata Banerjee. Additionally, he announced that a Shiv Sena delegation would visit West Bengal to support the affected families and offer assistance.
