Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal on Monday urged the Narendra Modi-led Central government to provide a detailed account of its development achievements over the past 11 years. Sapkal criticized the government’s advertisements marking 11 years in power, demanding transparency based on international benchmarks like UNICEF, World Bank, and WHO indicators.

He emphasized the need for reports on happiness, human development, hunger indices, and employment opportunities. Sapkal claimed the government failed to deliver on promises such as generating 2 crore jobs, doubling farmers’ income, implementing Swaminathan Commission recommendations, and building smart cities. He argued that during these 11 years, the country’s progress has regressed, contrasting it with the development seen under former PM Manmohan Singh.

Addressing speculation about reunions among Maharashtra political parties like the NCP, MNS, and Shiv Sena (UBT), Sapkal stated that these were internal matters for those parties. He reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance in Maharashtra and the broader INDIA bloc, which opposes forces against democracy and the Constitution.

Regarding upcoming civic elections, Sapkal said alliance decisions would be made at the local level, emphasizing a focus on protecting democratic values and constitutional integrity moving forward.
