Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a fully automated vehicle testing station at the DTC bus depot in Nand Nagri. She reaffirmed her government's commitment to reducing pollution, cleaning the Yamuna, and ensuring better facilities for all residents. The event was attended by Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and North-East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari.

At the event, CM Gupta announced the introduction of Pink Cards for women commuters, replacing the current Pink Tickets in DTC buses, aiming to improve ease and access for female passengers.

The new vehicle testing facility will be capable of checking up to 72,000 vehicles annually. Officials stated that it will be fully automated, with no human involvement, ensuring a transparent and tech-driven process. The centre will focus on emission checks and mechanical fitness, contributing to pollution control and road safety.

Transport Minister Singh said the project aligns with the Delhi government's broader goal of modernising transport infrastructure with an environmentally responsible approach. The initiative is also expected to boost green mobility and support a more sustainable transport system in the capital.

This move is part of Delhi’s larger push for eco-friendly transport solutions, which includes the rollout of electric buses, phasing out old vehicles, and digitalising transport services. The new testing station is a step forward in that direction.

The Nand Nagri facility is set to be completed in the coming months and is expected to play a key role in Delhi’s mission for smarter, cleaner, and safer urban mobility.
