Kochi
After being released on bail for a drug case, popular Malayalam rapper Vedan was taken into custody by the Forest Department on Tuesday. This followed the discovery of a leopard tooth at his rented accommodation during a police search on Monday. Kerala Forests Minister A.K. Saseendran confirmed the arrest, stating that the tooth was identified as belonging to a leopard, prompting the department to register a case. An investigation is underway to trace its origin.
Vedan, whose real name is Hirandas Murali, initially claimed the tooth came from Thailand but later stated it was a gift from a fan at a program in Chennai in May 2024. The Forest Department's vigilance wing is keeping an eye on him due to prior reports.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the drugs found at his residence continues. Vedan and eight others were arrested, with authorities seizing ganja, drug equipment, and nearly Rs 9.5 lakh.
