Rajnath Singh talks defence ties with UK counterpart
New Delhi
On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke with UK Defence Secretary John Healey, focusing on strengthening defence ties and addressing bilateral matters. The two leaders discussed advancements in niche areas like electric propulsion and jet engines. They also expressed satisfaction over the recent signing of the Statement of Intent on Electric Propulsion, marking a significant step forward in defence cooperation.
Additionally, they reviewed the ongoing exchange programme of military instructors between their countries. With the UK's growing focus on the Indo-Pacific, both sides agreed to explore further opportunities for joint efforts and maritime engagements in 2025.
Earlier this month, Singh emphasized the importance of overcoming current geopolitical tensions for global prosperity and peace, during the Ambassadors' Round-Table ahead of Aero India 2025. He called for greater global unity to address the volatile security environment and to ensure future generations benefit from economic growth and technological progress.
Aero India 2025, set for February 10-14 at Yelahanka in Bengaluru, will feature a variety of events, including air shows, a CEOs’ Round-Table, and exhibitions. The theme for the 15th edition is The Runway to a Billion Opportunities, reflecting India's growing role in the global aerospace sector.
