Rajnath Singh assures firm response to Pahalgam terror attack, cites PM Modi’s resolute leadership
New Delhi
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday vowed a strong and decisive response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation’s desires for justice will be fulfilled. Speaking at the Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav in Delhi, Singh highlighted the government’s commitment to national security. “It is my duty to ensure the security of India’s borders along with my soldiers. It is also my responsibility to give a befitting reply to those who dare to attack our country,” he said. He reminded citizens of PM Modi’s determined working style and assured them that under his leadership, the nation’s will would prevail. Singh emphasized that India’s strength lies not only in its military might but also in its rich culture and spirituality. “While our soldiers protect the nation’s physical form on the battlefield, our sages have safeguarded its spiritual essence,” he noted. The comments come in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam attack, where gunmen opened fire at Baisaran meadow, killing 26 civilians, mostly tourists, marking one of the deadliest attacks in recent years. Earlier this week, Prime Minister Modi, during a high-level security meeting with top defence officials, stated that the armed forces have full operational freedom to determine the timing, targets, and mode of India’s response. Modi reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to deal a “crushing blow” to terrorism, underscoring a firm and uncompromising stance against threats to India’s sovereignty.
