Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met representatives of the Dawoodi Bohra community on Monday, extending Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and acknowledging their service initiatives.

Rajnath Singh shared on X that he had a delightful interaction with the delegation, led by Shahzada Burhanuddin Saifuddin, son of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the community’s 53rd al-Dai al-Mutlaq. He praised their community service and wished them success in future endeavors.

Jaishankar also expressed his appreciation, stating that he met Shehzada Husain Burhanuddin and Dawoodi Bohra representatives alongside MP Milind Deora. He conveyed Eid greetings and commended their inspirational contributions.

The Dawoodi Bohra community, primarily from western India, has a global presence in over 40 countries. They trace their lineage to the Fatimi Imams of Egypt and have been guided by the al-Dai al-Mutlaq for over 450 years, with leadership based in India.

Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramzan, was celebrated nationwide with joy. In cities like Vadodara, Agra, and Ghaziabad, large congregations gathered for Eid prayers, exchanging warm greetings. In Agra, devotees assembled near the Taj Mahal, praying for peace and unity.

However, celebrations in some areas were accompanied by protests and heightened security measures. Authorities ensured safety as people came together to mark the festival with prayers and community gatherings.
