Railways revamping Bihar: 98 stations, 8 Vande Bharats
New Delhi
Bihar is witnessing a major transformation in its railway infrastructure, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Parliament on Wednesday. As part of this development, 98 railway stations across the state are being redeveloped with modern designs and better passenger amenities.
Vaishnaw also said that eight Vande Bharat trains, including five Amrit Bharat Express and one Namo Bharat, are now running in Bihar. These new trains aim to offer affordable and comfortable travel experiences to the people.
Highlighting key achievements, the minister said several long-pending projects are now being completed swiftly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Notable examples include the construction of new bridges in Munger and Patna, which had been delayed for years.
To ease traffic and improve connectivity, the Railways has built 218 flyovers and underpasses across the state. New Amrit Bharat Express trains have also been launched from Patna to Delhi, Darbhanga to Delhi, and from Bihar to Bengaluru, catering especially to people from economically weaker sections.
Vaishnaw praised the Prime Minister’s vision, stating that these projects are not just about infrastructure but are meant to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Bihar.
In a written response to the Lok Sabha, the minister also shared that Indian Railways has approved 892 surveys in recent years, including 267 for new rail lines, 11 for gauge conversion, and 614 for track doubling. These projects, covering over 61,000 km, are part of the broader efforts to modernise and expand the national railway network.
