On Wednesday, the Punjab Congress organized a protest against the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald money laundering case. Led by state president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, hundreds of Congress workers gathered at the Punjab Congress Bhawan before marching toward the ED office in Sector 9. Protesters carried placards and banners, shouting slogans against the Modi government.

The chargesheet also named Congress leaders Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey as accused. During the protest, Warring accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to create a false narrative about the Gandhi family. He claimed that Modi is insecure and trying to fabricate a perception of corruption against them, despite knowing the case lacks substance and won’t survive legal scrutiny.

Warring further criticized Modi for failing to find any evidence of wrongdoing against the Gandhis during the 10 years of UPA rule, instead choosing to focus on the National Herald case. Where is the alleged laundered money? Warring asked, adding that Modi’s efforts to malign the Gandhi family with a fake narrative would fail.

He also took a jab at Modi, suggesting that the Prime Minister is envious of the Gandhis' history of sacrifices for the nation. The protest follows the ED’s move on April 12 to seize assets worth Rs 661 crore linked to the case, in which Rahul and Sonia Gandhi hold a majority stake in the Congress-controlled Associated Journals Limited (AJL).
