Protesters claimed injuries from baton charge, demanding results for 87,774 TRE-3 posts
Patna
A protest erupted near Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's residence in Patna on Tuesday, when police baton-charged aspirants demanding the release of the supplementary results for the Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE-3). The demonstrators gathered outside the gates of the CM's residence, an area designated as a high-security zone where protests are not allowed.
The protesters, holding placards and chanting slogans against the state government and the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), expressed frustration over the delay in the release of the supplementary results. Despite requests from Anu Kumari, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), for the protestors to disperse, the demonstrators refused to leave. As tensions escalated, police used force to disperse the crowd.
Protesters claimed that several people were injured in the baton charge, though authorities denied this. One protester, Kriti Dutta, mentioned that the group had been protesting in Gardanibagh for four months with no solution provided, despite contacting various officials, including ministers and MLAs. Another protester revealed that the education minister had promised to send a letter to the BPSC, but no action had been taken.
The Bihar Public Service Commission conducted the TRE-3 exam in March 2024, announcing 87,774 posts. However, only about 51,000 candidates have received appointment letters. Despite earlier assurances of a supplementary result, it has yet to be released, fueling frustration among the aspirants. Attempts to reach district and police officials for comments were unsuccessful.
