Kolkata Police on Tuesday warned of strict legal action against anyone trying to reveal the identity of the student allegedly gang-raped at a law college in Kasba. In an official advisory, police said revealing a rape victim's identity is a serious legal offence.

They noted that some individuals were sharing confidential documents or content that could lead to identifying the victim. The police cautioned that sharing documents, photos, or social media posts that expose the victim’s identity is punishable by law.

Strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved. People are strongly advised not to share any such material, the advisory stated.

Police stressed that protecting a victim’s identity is both a legal requirement and a moral duty.

Meanwhile, DNA samples of the three arrested accused—Monojit Mishra, Pramit Mukherjee, and Zaid Ahmed—were collected on Monday at Calcutta Medical College for forensic tests as part of the ongoing investigation.
