Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday firmly stated that no one would be allowed to disrupt social harmony in the state, following a violent clash between police and Karni Sena members in Harda district.

In a social media post from Spain, where he is currently on an official visit, CM Yadav said social justice and mutual harmony are the government’s top priorities. He ordered a detailed investigation into the incident and promised strict action against those found responsible for disturbing peace.

The clash erupted over the weekend when Karni Sena activists protested against a diamond deal fraud involving their member Ashish Rajput, who claimed he lost Rs 18 lakh. Police had arrested one accused, Mohit Verma, and as he was to be presented in court, around 40 Karni Sena members gathered, demanding his custody.

The protest turned violent, leading police to resort to lathi-charge, tear gas, and water cannons. Four people, including Karni Sena district president Sunil Rajput and complainant Ashish Rajput, were arrested.

Police reportedly entered a Rajput hostel and used force against residents, drawing sharp criticism from various quarters and raising concerns over excessive policing. Over 60 protesters, including national Karni Sena president Jeevan Singh Sherpur, were jailed.

The administration imposed prohibitory orders and increased security, deploying additional forces from nearby districts to maintain order.

Karni Sena leaders vowed to continue peaceful protests, demanding justice in the fraud case and accountability for the police action.

Opposition leaders condemned the force used against protesters and called for an impartial inquiry, emphasizing that people's voices must not be suppressed.
