PM Modi to launch Bima Sakhi scheme for women empowerment in Haryana
New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haryana on December 9 to launch the 'Bima Sakhi Yojana,' aiming to empower women and promote financial inclusion. The scheme, introduced by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), targets women aged 18-70 with at least a Class X education. Beneficiaries will undergo specialized training and receive a stipend for the first three years to enhance financial literacy and insurance awareness. After completing the training, these women can work as LIC agents and may even qualify for Development Officer roles. During his visit to Panipat, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment certificates to the first batch of Bima Sakhis. He will also lay the foundation stone for Maharana Pratap Horticultural University's main campus in Karnal. The university, built at a cost of over Rs 700 crore, will focus on crop diversification and horticultural research, offering graduate and post-graduate programs. Earlier, the Prime Minister will be in Jaipur to inaugurate the 'Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024' at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre. The event, running from December 9-11, will focus on themes like water security, sustainable mining, agri-business, and women-led startups, with participation from over 32 countries and international organizations.
