Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday for a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia. He will hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to strengthen the partnership between the two nations. This marks Modi’s third visit to Saudi Arabia, but his first to the historic city of Jeddah.

Upon landing at King Abdulaziz International Airport, he was welcomed by Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz and Commerce Minister Dr. Majid Al-Kassabi. In a special gesture, his aircraft was escorted by Royal Saudi Air Force F-15 fighter jets—a symbol of growing defence ties.

"Landed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This visit will strengthen the friendship between India and Saudi Arabia..." Modi shared on X in both English and Arabic.

At the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Indian community members greeted him warmly. Saudi singer Hashim Abbas performed ‘Ae watan mere aabad rahe tu’, with Modi clapping along, receiving loud applause.

Modi and the Crown Prince will co-chair the Strategic Partnership Council’s second meeting. Discussions will include MoUs in space, health, energy, science, and culture. Talks on the Hajj quota for Indian pilgrims are also expected.

Saudi Arabia, home to 2.7 million Indians, remains one of India’s most trusted allies. Modi described the kingdom as “a maritime neighbour, a trusted friend and a strategic ally.” He will also visit a factory employing Indian workers and engage with the local Indian diaspora during the trip.
