PM Modi Meets Senior Ministers Before Monsoon Session
New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a key meeting on Monday with senior Union Ministers including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, Kiren Rijiju, and Arjun Meghwal at Parliament House. According to sources, the meeting focused on strategies for the ongoing Monsoon Session, which began earlier in the day. The PM was briefed on the Business Advisory Committee discussions and the Opposition’s demand for his statement on Operation Sindoor.
Ahead of the session, PM Modi described it as a Vijay Utsav, celebrating India’s military achievements. He highlighted the swift and complete success of Operation Sindoor, where terrorist hideouts were destroyed in 22 minutes. Modi noted increasing global interest in India’s indigenously developed weapons.
Meanwhile, the Opposition, including Congress and other INDIA bloc parties, identified eight major issues to raise, including the Pahalgam terror attack and electoral roll revisions in Bihar. They submitted adjournment notices, which were not accepted. As a result, the Lok Sabha was adjourned twice—first till 12 p.m. and later till 2 p.m.
Rahul Gandhi criticized the government for not allowing Opposition leaders to speak, despite allowing the Defence Minister to address the House. He said this went against established conventions. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also questioned why the Leader of the Opposition was not allowed to speak if the government truly welcomed a discussion on Operation Sindoor.
