PM Modi, Dubai Crown Prince discuss future ties
New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in Delhi on Tuesday during the latter’s first official visit to India. PM Modi said the visit reflects the strong bond between India and the UAE and will boost future cooperation. Sheikh Hamdan, who is also UAE’s Deputy PM and Defence Minister, arrived with top ministers, officials, and a business delegation for a two-day trip.
PM Modi praised Dubai’s key role in deepening the India-UAE strategic partnership and hosted a working lunch to discuss expanding ties in various sectors. Sheikh Hamdan, in a post on X, called the meeting a reaffirmation of the trust and shared vision between the two nations focused on innovation, opportunity, and prosperity.
The Crown Prince was welcomed with a ceremonial guard of honour and received at the airport by Union Minister Suresh Gopi. His visit also includes a stop in Mumbai to attend a business roundtable with Indian and Emirati leaders. The roundtable will explore opportunities in infrastructure, energy, fintech, sustainability, and innovation to strengthen economic ties.
With over 4.3 million Indians living in the UAE, most in Dubai, the two countries share deep cultural and commercial connections. Formal diplomatic ties were established in 1972 and have grown steadily, especially after PM Modi’s 2015 visit. Dubai continues to play a key role in fostering India-UAE relations across multiple areas.
