A 16-hour special discussion on Operation Sindoor will be held in both Houses of Parliament on July 29, following a decision taken at the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The session is part of the ongoing Monsoon Session, with consensus reached across party lines, multiple reports confirmed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, is expected to address Parliament on the matter. The Opposition, meanwhile, has strongly demanded that the Prime Minister make an official statement both in the House and to the nation regarding Operation Sindoor, which relates to recent national security developments.

The urgency of the debate intensified after US President Donald Trump once again claimed credit for brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The remarks have drawn sharp reactions from Opposition leaders, particularly the Congress, who criticised the government for its silence.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused PM Modi of dodging accountability. “Trump has claimed 25 times in 73 days that he secured a ceasefire. The Prime Minister hasn’t responded even once. Is this patriotism?” he questioned.

This latest development is set to heat up proceedings in Parliament, especially as both Houses have already faced adjournments over protests related to the Bihar SIR issue. The July 29 debate is expected to be closely watched, both within the country and internationally.
