With just one day remaining before her potential deportation, Maryam, a Pakistani national residing in Uttar Pradesh, made an emotional appeal to the government on Tuesday. She is urging the Centre to allow her to stay in the state with her Indian husband. Maryam, who holds a short-term visa, expressed her desire to remain in India, stating that after marrying Amir from Khurja three years ago, she considers this country her home.

The state government has not confirmed whether Maryam is indeed the last Pakistani citizen to be deported, but according to official reports, Uttar Pradesh has nearly completed the repatriation of Pakistani nationals, with only one remaining. The exact number of Pakistani nationals repatriated has not been disclosed, and there is no clarity on who the final individual to be deported will be.

Maryam arrived in India two months ago and applied for a long-term visa soon after. I don't want to go back, she said, emphasizing her desire to stay with her husband. She also expressed sorrow over the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, and condemned the perpetrators.

Authorities are closely monitoring Maryam’s situation, and she has submitted an application to stay in India. The police confirmed that four other Pakistani women in the region have already been repatriated, leaving Maryam as the only remaining individual under watch in Bulandshahr. The state government swiftly acted on the Centre’s directive to expel Pakistani nationals following the Pahalgam attack.
