On Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah announced plans for a new Assembly building and courts equipped for virtual hearings. During the Budget Session 2025, he proposed forming a committee with the Leader of Opposition (LOP), Congress, and PDP to revise MLA salaries, which have not been updated since 2015. He emphasized the disparity, noting, Officers now earn Rs 3 lakh, while we remain in 2015.

Abdullah also discussed the power amnesty scheme, confirming it would end this year, without further extensions. He highlighted concerns over the rising population’s impact on land, stressing the need to protect agricultural land for the region’s future. He also supported reviving the Roshni scheme, which gives land rights to leaseholders.

The CM shared plans to restore 33 heritage sites with an investment of 65 crore and promised to accelerate the Mubarak Mandi project. Additionally, he called for help reclaiming the original Kashmir House in Delhi.
