Odisha's Koraput wins PM’s award for public administration

Koraput district in Odisha has earned national recognition by winning the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024. The award, presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was received by Koraput District Collector V Keerthi Vasan during a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Public Service Day. Koraput was honored in the 'Holistic Development of Districts' category.

Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi congratulated the district for its achievement, praising the team’s exceptional work in holistic development. Koraput was selected for its efficient implementation of several major central government schemes, such as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Sakhyam Anganwadi, and Poshan Yojana, which have positively impacted the district’s tribal communities over the past 18 months.

Koraput’s selection, one of only five districts to win this prestigious award, followed a thorough evaluation by central authorities, focusing on innovation, measurable outcomes, and inclusive governance. The district’s efforts have significantly improved the lives of its residents, promoting sustainable development.

Collector V Keerthi Vasan emphasized that the award reflects the collective effort and dedication of the entire district. He credited the achievement to the strong trust and teamwork within the administration, which has worked toward the betterment of the community. The award highlights Koraput’s ongoing commitment to progress and inclusive growth.
