Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended invitations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to attend two important events next month. The first is a function on June 12 celebrating the BJP government’s first anniversary in Odisha. The second is the famous Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, scheduled for June 27. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida shared this information after returning from a four-day visit to New Delhi, where Majhi met several leaders to invite them to these special occasions.

Parida mentioned that the Prime Minister’s schedule is very busy, but they are hopeful for a positive response. In addition to Modi and Shah, Chief Ministers of other NDA-ruled states and key BJP national leaders have also been invited to participate in the anniversary celebrations and Rath Yatra.

The state government has planned a grand three-day celebration from June 11 to 13, with various events organized at block, district, and state levels. This occasion will also serve as an opportunity for the BJP government to present its achievements and report card to the people of Odisha.

At a recent NDA chief ministers’ meeting, PM Modi highlighted how a double engine government—where the same party rules both at the Centre and the state—boosts development and improves citizens’ lives. BJP leaders often use this term to describe the advantage of their party being in power at both levels.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi to discuss the state's strategic role on India’s eastern border. Majhi sought support to strengthen national security, highlighting Odisha’s coastal importance and defense sites like Chandipur and Abdul Kalam Island. The state also coordinates with the Navy and Coast Guard to monitor coastal security.
