Odisha Balasore floods critical
Balasore
The flood situation in Odisha’s Balasore district remained serious on Tuesday, affecting about 100 villages in the northern region. Heavy rain and water release from Jharkhand caused the Subarnarekha river to overflow, impacting four blocks—Bhograi, Baliapal, Jaleswar, and Basta. Flooding from the Jalaka river also affected parts of Basta and Balasore Sadar. Though water levels are slowly going down, they still hover near danger marks. Officials, including the Balasore collector, are closely monitoring the situation. So far, nearly 3,000 people have been evacuated to shelters.
