No travel limits for Indians, only Hajj curbs
New Delhi
Reports suggesting a travel ban on Indian citizens visiting Saudi Arabia are inaccurate. The Saudi government has issued no notification restricting Indian travellers. Sources clarified that temporary short-term visa limitations are imposed annually during the Hajj season to manage the influx of pilgrims and prevent overcrowding. These are routine measures lifted once the pilgrimage concludes.
Celebrating the successful Hajj arrangements, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage for millions of worshippers. He praised the dedication of Saudi leadership and institutions in creating a spiritually fulfilling experience. UAE leaders Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan also extended their greetings.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh highlighted Indian pilgrims' participation in Wuquf-e-Arafat, the central ritual of Hajj, noting their safe arrival at the site. In a video message, Consul General Fahad Suri confirmed all Indian pilgrims reached Arafat safely, commending the coordinated efforts of the Indian Hajj Mission and Saudi authorities. He thanked the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for their continued support and wished everyone a blessed Eid-ul-Adha and a successful pilgrimage.
These developments underscore the strong India-Saudi Arabia relationship, strengthened by deep-rooted cultural and economic ties. During Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit, India appreciated Saudi Arabia's care for the 2.7 million Indians residing there and the effective coordination in facilitating Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from India.
